"There are unsupported ad sets in this campaign" or "There is an unsupported field in the targeting for this Ad Set"

Introduction

When syncing objects in the Marin Social platform, you might encounter one of the following sync errors:

There are unsupported ad sets in this campaign.

There is an unsupported field in the targeting for this Ad Set.

What Causes The Issue?

This issue occurs when one or more settings are available on Facebook, but are not yet supported in the Marin Social platform. This issue often happens if you've created your campaign, ad set, or ad on Facebook and then imported it from the Media Plan page, or synced the campaign from the publisher. Your campaign will be served as normal, and you'll see the metrics in Marin Social, however you'll only be able to edit the settings on Facebook.

How To Fix The Issue

To resolve this issue, follow these steps in Marin Social:

1. First, go to the Ads Manager or Power Editor.

2. Next, find your campaign.

3. Edit your ad set or ad by removing the unsupported field shown in the error message at the ad set level.

4. Save your new settings on Facebook.

5. Go back to the Marin Social platform.

6. Find and select the campaign.

6. Click the Download from the Publisher button above the grid.

Your campaign will now be synced once more and you should be able to edit your ad in the Marin Social platform.
