Managing Keywords and Creatives in Bulk

Introduction

Since the launch of Google's Upgraded URLs, some of the Platform's functionality can now be handled slightly differently. In this article, we'll look at how best to manage keywords and creatives via bulk upload in the post-Upgraded URLs world.

Step-by-Step

To create new ads or keywords in the Platform, you'll need to include the required bulk sheet column headers as normal, but (for Google) also include headers for Landing Page and Mobile Landing Page columns instead of Destination URL and/or Click Through URL.

Please note the following:

  1. The Landing Page column is required to define the landing page URL.
     
  2. Custom Parameters column is not required upon creation, since the URL Builder will automatically trigger for new keywords.
     
  3. New Google keywords and creatives can be included in the same bulk sheet as Microsoft; however, Google objects need to have URLs in the Landing Page column and Microsoft needs to continue to use Destination URL and/or Click Through if using redirects.

Note: In case the Marin Platform detects that the end of any Landing Page does not already contain a '?',  a '?" is appended to the end of the Landing Page. This is a preemptive measure to ensure that when Tracking Parameters are appended to the end of a Landing Page and that the URL does not fail.

Therefore, it is advised to upload creatives in the Marin Platform. Uploading creatives in the publisher account can result in these syncing into the Marin Platform, the Autocorrect appending a '?'  to the end of the Landing Page and pushing the creatives back to the publisher account, resulting in a removal and creation of the same creative.
