Training: The Marin Search Dashboard

What You'll Learn

In this training article, we'll show you how to:

  • Use the Platform Dashboard to gain at-a-glance info about your account.
  • Customize the Platform Dashboard to meet your needs.
  • Create your own custom widgets to display on the Platform Dashboard.

Did you know? You can use the Platform's View Builder to create a custom grid view, then save it as a widget for instant access anytime.

What is the Platform Dashboard?

The Platform Dashboard gives you quick access to the data you use most frequently. Available as soon as you log in to the Platform, the Dashboard works as your personal command center. Metrics, data, charts, and more; it's a totally flexible feature.

The Dashboard is completely customizable to fit your personal needs, and works using different sections called widgets. You can move these around at will with simple drag-and-drop functionality, as well as adding or removing any you need (or don't).

Just as with every other area of the Platform, the Dashboard has been built from the ground up to make running your campaigns easier than ever.

How to

Below we'll offer step-by-step guides on the most common features of the Platform Dashboard.

How to view and customize the Platform Dashboard

Let's start with the easy stuff.

Follow these simple steps to view the Platform Dashboard and move the widgets around:

  1. Log in to the Platform as normal.
  2. You'll normally be presented with the Platform Dashboard right away. If not, simply click the Dashboard sub-tab above the grid.

  3. Welcome to the Platform Dashboard! Simply scroll down to explore the various widgets that are added by default. You'll be able to see data and metrics like publisher summaries, cost reports, and folder overviews.Screen Shot 2018-01-24 at 16.40.15.png
  4. Want to change the order or layout? Simply click and hold the 'four dots' icon in the upper-left corner of each widget, then drag the widget to the position you'd like it. Simple!

How to add or remove widgets

You can also add or remove any of the widgets on the Platform Dashboard by following these steps:

  1. To remove any of the widgets on the Dashboard, just click the 'X' button in the upper-right corner of the widget itself.

  2. Delete one my mistake? Not a problem; let's find out how to add widgets. First, click the ('plus') button next to the label for the Dashboard sub-tab.

  3. This will bring up a list of all of the standard widgets available to be added to the Dashboard. Simply use the checkboxes to pick the ones you'd like to add, then click Apply.
  4. Et voilà! Your new widgets will appear in the Dashboard below.

How to create a custom widget

So you've learned how to add and remove standard widgets, let's look at creating a custom widget. These can include metrics and data that you decide is important, based on the views you set up in the grid. To create a custom widget, follow these steps:

  1. Head to the specific page in the Platform that contains the data you want. For example, the main Keywords tab.
  2. Using the Platform's View Builder, Calendars, and Filters, create a custom view that contains the data you'd like to see in your widget.

  3. Once your view is built and you've added or removed the relevant columns, click Save View in the left column of the screen, then select the radio button Dashboard Widget.

  4. Specify whether the widget should display the Grid or Chart (if available). If your widget will be grid-based, you can also choose the number of rows you'd like to display. Finally, click Save.
  5. All done! The widget will now be added to the Platform Dashboard view.

Try It Yourself

The best way to learn how to use a feature is to try it for yourself. With that in mind, we've built the following interactive section to help you learn about the Platform Dashboard. Don't worry, it's not linked to any live data, so you can feel free to try your hand without affecting your account.
