Training: Using the Multi-Edit Feature

What You'll Learn

In this training article, we'll show you how to:

  • Use the Platform's multi-edit feature to make changes to multiple objects in double-quick time.

If you have hundreds, thousands, or even more, objects to update, we'd always recommend using the bulk upload feature, which we'll explore in a later Training article.

What is Multi-Edit?

The Platform is designed to offer a wide range of options when it comes to managing your data. There are times when you don't want to update just one object, but you also don't want to update hundreds. That's where the Platform's multi-edit feature comes in very handy.

In the space of just a few clicks, you can use multi-editing to make a variety of changes to multiple objects within the Platform's grids. You can choose to update any one of the object's attributes; for example, a keyword's destination URL or bid override setting. On top of that, you can also assign dimensions to specific objects using multi-edit.

You are able to use multi-edit in any one of the main grids, including CampaignsGroups, Keywords and Creatives. Best of all, multi-edit works the same way in every grid, so once you've mastered it, you'll be able to use it everywhere. So let's begin.

See it in action

Join a member of the Marin Software team as we explain how to use multi-edit in any one of the Platform's grids to make multiple changes to your objects quickly.

How to

Multi-edit is a powerful yet easy-to-learn feature. In our step-by-step guide, we'll show you how to get started using multi-edit in a a few short minutes.

  1. First, log in to the Platform and navigate to the specific grid you'd like to make changes to. For example, the Keywords grid.

  2. Use the checkboxes on the left-hand side of the grid to select all of the objects you'd like to make changes to.

  3. Click the Edit button ('pencil' icon) above the grid.

  4. In the editing bubble that appears, you'll see a drop-down box from which you can choose a variety of attributes to change. Which options are available will depend on the specific type of object that you're editing, so be sure to explore each object type to learn what you can update.

  5. Select the relevant field in the editing bubble drop-down and your editing options will appear; for example, a text field or radio buttons. Here, you can make the change and it will be reflected in all of the objects you've selected.

  6. Once you've entered your changes, click Save and all of your object updates will be sent to the Activity Log to be posted to the publisher. You can also cancel these tasks from the Activity Log if you change your mind.

  7. And that's it! Those are the basics of using multi-edit to make changes to multiple objects at once.
