Using Enhanced Charts

Introduction

Charts are useful for visualizing data displayed on the grid, adding visuals to your PDF reports, and creating quick to use dashboard widgets. There are 4 different chart types available in the application: Line, Scatter, Bubble, and Pie charts.

Note: This article explains how to use this feature in Marin Search only.

Line Charts

Line charts help you visualize trends in a metric over time. Example metrics to plot could be conversions, revenue, clicks, or any other metric whose performance you want to trace over time.

How to use Line Charts:

  • A line chart with no objects selected will display the performance of the entire account on 2 metrics.

  • A line chart with between 1 and 10 objects selected will chart the performance of those specific objects on 1 metric.

  • Line charts cannot be plotted with 11 or more objects selected.

Scatter and Bubble Charts

Scatter charts can help you visualize the relationship between two metrics and find correlations. Bubble charts are identical to scatter, but also allow for plotting a third metric (bubble size) to bring more visual attention to important data points.

Sample Metrics to use in a Scatter Chart

  • CTR vs. Avg. Position
  • Clicks vs. Conversions
  • Avg. Position vs. Avg Headroom
  • Avg Position vs. Cost/Conv.

Sample Metrics to use in a Bubble Chart

Same as Scatter but with an additional metric
indicating
volume, such as:

  • Conversions
  • Revenue
  • Impressions

How to use Scatter and Bubble Charts:

  • A scatter/bubble chart with no objects selected will display the first 20 points displayed on the grid.

  • A scatter/bubble chart with between 1 and 1000 objects selected will display those items on the graph.

  • 1000 points is the limit of items which can be shown on a scatter/bubble chart.

Pie Charts

Pie charts allow for comparisons on one metric across a few items. Example metrics to plot could be Conversions (on the Folders tab) or Publisher Cost (on the Channels tab).

How to use Pie Charts:

  • A pie chart with no objects selected will display a chart of the first 10 objects displayed on the grid.

  • A pie chart with between 1 and 10 objects selected will chart the performance of those specific objects on 1 metric.

  • Pie charts cannot support 11 or more plotted objects.

  • If all the data for the selected metric is either 0 or negative, the pie chart will show the message No data to display.

Places to use Charts in the Application

  • Note: Only the line chart is available on the History page.
    • At this time, custom columns cannot be graphed or charted in the History grid. This is a feature that we are hoping to add in the future.

  • Chart data in an object grid (Keywords, Creatives, Campaigns, etc.).

  • Add a chart to a PDF report.

  • Add a chart to a saved view or dashboard widget.
  • When bringing up the ROAS column for there will be two options available which can be viewed side by side in the Chart - ROAS and ROAS (Tot.). ROAS (Tot.) is a reflection of the Date of Conversion value for ROAS, ROAS reflects the value of the Date of Click.
