Keyword Impressions and Campaign Impressions Do Not Match

What is the issue?

You may sometimes see a difference between keywords impressions and campaign impressions in your reports.

What causes the issue?

This problem is most commonly caused by having a default filter 'clicks>0' in the reports.
 

  • At a Keyword level: If a campaign has impressions but no clicks, it's filtered out.
     
  • At a Campaign level: Even though a few keywords have impressions and no clicks, the filter does not affect the cost metrics because the keywords are grouped with the rest of the keywords for that campaign, and their impressions add up for all instances.

How to fix the issue

This is expected behavior, and as such does not require a fix. You can choose to Include keywords with zero clicks in your report which may also help avoid the issue.
