The Platform supports two options for tracking revenue for managed placements:
To use the Tracking ID method, follow these steps:
Once the above is completed, conversions stemming from placements should then come through. The Platform does this by matching the value under the Keyword ID column to the Tracking ID value in the placement URL.
Another option is to track placements by utilizing creative-level tracking. To employ this method, follow these steps:
Once the above is completed, conversions stemming from placements will come through by matching the value under the Placement column to the placement name in the grid.
Note: There is a drawback to this second method, as explained below.
Because Google does not provide sub-directory detail in the {placement} parameter, any revenue uploaded to a group that contains placements with multiple sub-directories will be assigned to Unattributed.
This happens because Google only returns the base domain of the website the placement ad was displayed on. If you do choose the method, note two things. Firstly, Google supports a {placement} dynamic insertion parameter that will return the domain of the placement. Secondly, placement URLs must include the {placement} parameter and the {creative} parameter.
