What Is the Issue?

When trying to upload keywords to Microsoft Advertising Content Ad groups, you may encounter an error message such as this and the upload fails:

What Causes the Issue?

This is a known issue with the Platform. Our engineers are aware of it and we will endeavor to fix the problem in a future release. In the meantime you can use the workaround below to resolve the issue.

How to Fix the Issue

To workaround this issue, follow these steps:

1. Use bulk upload or multi-edit to create an operation that edits groups to opt into Search distribution targeting. Do not push this job to the publisher. Place in Held status in the Activity Log. When bulk uploading, include the following in the bulk sheet:
   • Column Header = Network
   • Value = Search
2. Upload all affected keywords to the edited groups and post keywords to the publisher.
3. Cancel the group edit operation from step 1. This will return targeting to Search Partner Network.
