“The Network Provided is Not Allowed for Specified Publisher Countries” (Microsoft Ads only)

What Is the Issue?

When uploading new campaigns to Microsoft Advertising via the Platform, the upload could fail and you may encounter the following error message:

MSN, 1253, The network provided is not allowed for specified publisher countries., en_US

This message will appear within the Activity Log when you click on the Activity ID, and also within the downloaded error file which you can retrieve from the Activity Log row containing the failed upload.

What Causes the Issue?

This error message is related to the Network setting on Microsoft Advertising at the group level.  This error appears to be due to an issue on the publisher’s side, and is not a result of any Platform error.

How to Fix the Issue

To avoid this error, all Microsoft Advertising groups need to target both Search and Search Partners. Groups that are targeting Language=English and Geo Target=US can target Search only, without including Search Partners, but all other groups will need to target Search Partners to avoid this error.

Many of our clients that are using Smart Sync are encountering this error because Google campaigns have been set to exclude Search Partners and are then copied to Microsoft Advertising with the same settings. If you plan to continue using Smart Sync, you will want to correct this setting in your Google campaigns to prevent the error from showing up in Microsoft Advertising groups.

If you correct the issues above and are still running into this error, you can try deleting the campaign from the Platform and recreating it, then uploading it again.

If none of these solutions work for you, please contact our Support Services team.
