"Destination URL Was Invalid"

When uploading keywords/creatives, you may encounter this error message in the Activity Log error file.

Error: Destination URL was invalid

What Causes The Issue?

The Destination URL of the uploaded keywords/ads contain characters that are not accepted in a URL format.

How To Fix The Issue

Check the error file for any invalid characters, extra spaces or excessive punctuation in the URL.

  • Example 1: www.example.com/Free Training In this case there is a space between 'Free' and 'Training'. Remove the space or replace with an underscore "_" or any other URL compatible character.
  • Example 2: www.example..com/FreeTraining In this case there is an extra '.' in the string that causes the system to return errors. Remove excessive punctuation and re-upload the file.
  • Example 3: www.example.com/FreeTraining In this case there is an extra space at the end of the URL that causes the system to return errors. Remove extra spaces and re-upload the file.

Additional Information

  • If there are no apparent structural issues with the URLs, the client's server could be rejecting those URLs.
  • If you strip off everything starting at the question mark, the base page does load.
