Destination URLs Or Click-Through URLs Go To 404 Page

After uploading new Destination URLs or Click-Through URLs, the links navigate to a 404 page.

What Causes The Issue?

There are several reasons why a page may navigate to a 404 Error page. Please see a few of the reasons listed below:

  • There is a space in the URL.
  • The web page settings are not allowing the URLs to resolve.

How To Fix The Issue

  1. Check the original file and make sure there are no extra characters or spaces in the URL.
    • If URLs have a space in them, these need to either be encoded with a %20 or replaced with an acceptable URL character.
    • Please see our Help article for more information on acceptable URL characters.
  2. Test your URLs to make sure the web page settings are allowing the URL to resolve.
    • Test out a few URL variations to see which parameter or URL character is causing the issue (for example: a website not allowing two question marks '?').
    • Once you've found the parameter or URL character that is causing an issue on that particular web page, reach out to your website administrator about updating the settings to accept this character.
  3. Re-upload your file after editing the URLs to remove unacceptable spaces or characters.
