When uploading keywords/creatives, you may encounter this error message in the Activity Log error file.
Error: Destination URL was invalid
What Causes The Issue?
The Destination URL of the uploaded keywords/ads contain characters that are not accepted in a URL format.
How To Fix The Issue
Check the error file for any invalid characters, extra spaces or excessive punctuation in the URL.
- Example 1:
www.example.com/Free TrainingIn this case there is a space between 'Free' and 'Training'. Remove the space or replace with an underscore "_" or any other URL compatible character.
- Example 2:
www.example..com/FreeTrainingIn this case there is an extra '.' in the string that causes the system to return errors. Remove excessive punctuation and re-upload the file.
- Example 3:
www.example.com/FreeTrainingIn this case there is an extra space at the end of the URL that causes the system to return errors. Remove extra spaces and re-upload the file.
- If there are no apparent structural issues with the URLs, the client's server could be rejecting those URLs.
- If you strip off everything starting at the question mark, the base page does load.
