"Property Destination URL Is Not Valid"

Upon uploading new keywords or creatives via bulk edit, you may encounter the following error message:

Property destinationUrl is not valid. The following constraint violations were detected

What Causes The Issue?

This problem is most commonly caused by entries in the Destination URL field not being formatted correctly. For example, the error is commonly encountered when http:// has not been prepended to the URLs in the relevant field.

This issue can also occur if the Destination URL field is left out of the bulk sheet entirely. If you are not using keyword-level URLs, you still need to include the column header, but you can leave the fields in the column blank.

How To Fix The Issue

You can correct this problem by adding http:// to the Destination URLs that are currently missing it. You can achieve this in a number of ways, depending on your setup.

If You're Using URL Builder To Build Your Destination URLs, You Can Follow These Steps To Repair The URLs Automatically:

  1. Go to Creatives tab then use the View Builder to add these columns: Account, Campaign, Group, Destination URL, Click Through URL.
  2. Click the filter icon at the top of the relevant grid column to apply a filter for Destination URL does not contain http://
  3. Create a one-time report.
  4. Download the report, remove the Destination URL column, and re-upload.

If You're Utilizing URL Builder To Build Click Through URLs:

  1. Follow the above steps except include Click Through URL instead of Destination URL.

If You're Not Utilizing URL Builder To Build URLs:

  1. Follow steps 1-3 above.
  2. Download the report into Microsoft Excel, and manually prepend http:// to the relevant URLs.
  3. Re-upload the report.

Important Notes

  • The Destination URL column is required when creating new keywords even if you're electing to use creative level destination URLs, in which case you can leave the column blank.
