Email Alerts Advanced Guide

The Platform offers an easy setup and scheduling of automated email alerts to help monitor SEM activity when pre-defined conditions are met.

When creating email alerts we suggest making the alert actionable (ready for bulk upload) by including common fields such as Account, Campaign, Group, Keyword, Match Type, and Destination URL.

We recommend using absolute change columns to identify new opportunities or sudden changes such as Keywords with a click change >50 over the past 7 days. Other useful performance alerts can identify low CTR % with significant Impressions or Keywords that have declined in Conversion over the last 7 days.

Alerts can not only be used for performance but also for general account maintenance. For example, an alert can be set up to identify Keywords without proper tracking parameters.

How to create an email alert

  1. Go to the grid that you want to generate the alert for (Keyword, Group, Campaign) and apply all applicable columns and filters.
  2. Click Create Report and choose Recurring Report.
  3. To create a new recurring report, select Add to (New Template). You will select the format for the recurring report on the next screen.
  4. Select report options and click Continue. You will be taken to the report settings page.
  5. Enter the report name and select the execution frequency and select the format for the report (CSV will be the most actionable in this case).
  6. Confirm settings for the first data section. Confirm that the context, filters and time frame have been set correctly based on the view where the report was created.
  7. Check the Email Report option. Enter the email addresses (separated by commas) where the report should be sent.
  8. Enter a description below the Report Name that outlines the steps/actions recipients should take to resolve the alert if an email is received.
  9. You can run the report immediately by checking Run Report After Saving. Click Save to continue.
  10. The report will only be emailed if there are items that meet the specified filter condition you have set.
Note: If you are having trouble receiving your recurring reports, please refer to the article Recurring Reports Not Being Delivered via Email.

Additional information

  • When an alert is emailed, the email contents will show a quick preview of the first component within the report. Attached will be the report itself with all components and associated data.
