How can we help you?
This article describes URL Builder Autocorrect for clients who have not yet migrated to Google’s Upgraded URLs. To read about using URL Builder for Google Upgraded URLs, please read our Support Center article.
URL Builder is a feature that helps ensure all keywords in your account have appropriate tracking parameters included in their destination URLs (see A Guide to the URL Builder for an overview of setting up URL Builder). URL Builder appends tracking parameters when keywords, creatives, or placements are created or edited via a bulk upload in the Platform.
Autocorrect is an advanced option for URL Builder that enhances the functionality of URL Building in the platform. If enabled, Autocorrect runs whenever URL Builder runs and fixes additional URL issues not addressed by URL Builder.
The following grid illustrates the differences in functionality between using URL Builder alone versus using it with Autocorrect enabled:
Features | URL Builder | Autocorrect |
Append Missing Required Parameters | Yes | Yes |
Will Add Missing http:// to URLs | Yes | Yes |
Fix Duplicate Tracking Values | No | Yes |
Fix Incorrect Publisher Dynamic Insertion Parameters | No | Yes |
Correct Common Misspellings of Parameters | No | Yes |
In addition to fixing additional URL mistakes, enabling Autocorrect will also trigger URL Builder (and Autocorrect) to run in more situations when creating and modifying keywords, creatives, and placements in the platform or publisher accounts.
Action | URL Builder + Autocorrect | URL Builder | URL Builder for Redirects |
Bulk Edit | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Multi-Edit | Yes | No* | Yes* |
Sync from Publisher | Yes | No | No |
Manual Sync | Yes | No | No |
* URL Builder does not run on multi-edit to provide clients precision control over URLs via edits in the grid. When using redirects, a multi-edit will be applied to the Click-Through URL and URL Builder will be triggered to rebuild the destination URL. For more information on redirects, see How to Set Up URL Redirects.
