“Can Not Delete Destination URL While Editing Click Through URL” Error Message

What is the issue?

When attempting to upload a keyword, creative, or product target via bulk upload, you may encounter the following error message within the Activity Log:

Error: Can not delete destination URL while editing click through URL

Note: This error will only appear when using bulk sheets to upload new objects to the Platform.

What causes the issue?

This error generally occurs when your account is set up to build redirects. It’s likely that the bulk sheet you uploaded contained both the Click Through URL and the Destination URL columns. In this case, it’s also probable that the Destination URL column was left blank.

This blank field will lead to the error message above being shown in the Activity Log for this particular job.

This problem can also occur if your bulk sheet contains unnecessary column headers. If you are sure that there is no Destination URL column in the file, please check if there are any extra column headers. The problem should then be resolved by removing those unnecessary columns.

How to fix the issue

Luckily, this error is easy to fix -- just follow the instructions below:

  1. Open your original bulk sheet.

  2. Remove the Destination URL completely from the file.

  3. Re-upload your bulk sheet to the Platform.

Your upload should now process as expected.
