The Bulk Upload Button "Choose File" is Missing

What is the issue?

When working with the platform's bulk upload feature, you may notice that the Choose File button used to select your bulk sheet from your computer is missing.

What causes the issue?

The most common cause for a disappearing Choose File button on the bulk upload page is the Flash setting in your web browser.

How to fix the issue

The best way to fix this issue and ensure the Choose File button is visible is to double-check your browser's Flash and JavaScript settings and ensure they're both up-to-date.

Updating Flash Settings in Newer Versions of Chrome

Recent versions of the Chrome browser (following Chrome 69) do not allow users to permanently set Flash permissions. Instead, sites that use Flash will need explicit permission to run the plug-in each time you restart the browser. Because of this, the Choose File button will be missing by default whenever you start a new Chrome session.

Follow the steps below to allow Flash in newer versions of Chrome:

  1. When in the Marin platform, click on the 'padlock' icon in front the URL.
  2. Locate the Flash setting and choose Allow from the drop-down menu.

  3. Return to the Bulk Add/Edit page and the Choose File button should appear (you may need to refresh the page).

If you're still having trouble, follow these steps to allow Flash via the Chrome settings page:

  1. When in the Marin platform, click on the 'padlock' icon in front the URL.
  2. Click Site settings

  3. Locate the Flash setting and choose Allow from the drop-down menu.

  4. Return to the Bulk Add/Edit page and the Choose File button should appear (you may need to refresh the page).

A reminder: these settings will only be kept until you quit Chrome. To allow Flash, you must follow the steps above each time you start a new browsing session.

Updating Flash Settings in Older Versions of Chrome

If you are using an older version of Chrome, you can follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the Chrome browser.
  2. Paste the following link into your address bar, then press the Enter key: chrome://settings/content/flash
  3. Finally, ensure the Ask first setting is toggled to the Off position.

If you would prefer not to disable Ask first entirely or if your version of Chrome does not offer this setting, you can enable Flash specifically for our platform. To do this, click the Add button within the Allow section on the Flash page in Chrome, then add https://app.marinsoftware.com to grant Flash access to the platform. Note: If Chrome doesn't recognize the URL, you may need to manually type it in, rather than pasting it.

  4. Once you've followed these steps, refresh the page. If, after refreshing, the Choose File button still does not appear, fully close the browser, then log into the Marin platform again. The Choose File button should now be visible.

Alternatively, you can update your flash settings by Flash setting

1. When in the Marin platform, click on the 'padlock' icon in front the URL.

2. Click on the Flash section.

3. Ensure that you use either option which allows Flash.

4. Reload your browser.

Note: If you clear your browser cache after following the above steps, you may inadvertently remove the Flash exception you've added and be forced to add it again.

Note: If you are still experiencing this issue after following the above steps, please download the most recent version of Flash here, https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ , and then go through the steps above again.

Updating Javacript Settings
